Code Analyser

About The Code Analyser

WPS has a built-in code analyser tool that can scan existing scripts to compare with the language support implemented by WPS. When scripts are scanned they are not run but the analysis reports that are generated will help to indicate if they can be run unchanged or require work-arounds.

Analysis Report Features

Here are some of the features of an analysis report:

  • Identify the occurrence of unsupported language elements.
  • Identify the used language element type (e.g. Procedure, Format, Global Option, etc).
  • Automatically open a script at the exact line where an unsupported language element is located.
  • Export analysis reports into a Microsoft® Excel spreadsheets.

Mainframe, UNIX and Mac Users

The code analyser runs on the Windows platform because it is a feature of the WPS Workbench. However, if scripts are transferred from a Mainframe, UNIX or Mac platform to the Windows computer where WPS is installed, the code analyser is able to analyse and report on all language elements of the transferred scripts.
