General Overview of WPS

Summary of Main New and Fixed Items in WPS Version 2.4
(First Released 04-Oct-2009)
- This release of WPS introduces the classification of the various WPS support features into discrete modules.
- New WPS SDK module released to provide ability for users to create custom language items.
- WPS Statistics support expanded to include Procs REG, and LOGISTIC.
- WPS Graphing support expanded with new language items including support for PIE charts.
- New WPS Engine for Oracle released.
- The existing WPS Engine for ODBC, the WPS Engine for MySQL, and all SQL operations have been optimised to dramatically improve performance and provide additional associated language support.
- The I/O subsystem of WPS has been re-worked to overcome certain limitations of WPS version 2.3, in particular on the z/OS platform.
- WPS is now supported on the following UNIX platforms: AIX, Linux, Solaris and Linux on System z (optionally utilising the Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL) hardware for z9 and z10 Mainframe systems).
- WPS is now supported on Apple Mac OS X.
- This release of WPS has around 200 new language items. You can find an up-to-date list of all supported language items in downloadable spreadsheets in the language support section of this website.
- Many other general bug fixes and enhancements.
