World Programming is a private limited company. The company develops and distributes a software product called WPS for management, processing, reporting and analysis of data.
Formed in 2000, the Company first began offering a product called ORA, a web-based reporting, data distribution and business intelligence system. ORA proved successful in fulfilling its end-user requirements but there was frequently a need for manipulation and pre-processing data before being published by ORA.
In 2002 the Company started developing a product to meet the ORA pre-processing requirements. The product has since become known as WPS and was initially introduced for use on Windows in 2003 and for z/OS in 2004, allowing WPS users to run programs written in the language of SAS.
During 2008, new releases of WPS for Windows and z/OS saw the continuation of the company's efforts in expanding the language support in WPS.
During 2009 many new features were released together with a broadening of supported platforms. Significantly for Mainframe users, WPS was released to run under Linux on System z with IFL hardware with IFL hardware. WPS was introduced for AIX, Linux, Solaris and Mac OS X.
During this year statistical analysis support was expanded to make WPS a serious contender for statistical analysis. This new statistical analysis support brought the appeal of WPS to a wider and growing statistical audience.
Also introduced in 2009 was the WPS SDK module allowing users to create and compile their own unique custom language items.
WPS is currently in production at z/OS Mainframe and UNIX sites around the world and the Windows version of WPS has many hundreds of users on both workstation and server.
